Grade 8 is a pivotal year where students begin the transition from an Elementary to a Secondary educational program. Instead of one full time teacher, as is common in elementary school, Grade 8 introduces students to a team of teachers who are subject specialists. Each specialist will work directly with students to develop a student learning plan and deliver instruction for their specific course.
Below is a list of Grade 8 courses:
- English 8
- Math 8
- Science 8
- Social Studies 8
- Physical Education 8
- Health & Careers 8
- Fine Arts 8 (Music, Art or Drama)
- Applied Skills 8 (Home Economics or Information Technology)
- Second Language 8
Students enrolled in Grade 9 at EBUS Academy are encouraged to work through their courses in a semester fashion, with two academic and two non-academic courses being completed each semester. Please contact your academic advisor to discuss the courses that would best suit you.

New Course Offering for Grades 8/9!
Students receive a welcome email during the first week of school that will provide them with access to their Grade 8/9 courses. Homeroom teacher/academic advisor contact will be made at this time to ensure that each student is enrolled in the appropriate courses and understands what they is expected of them.
It is recommended that each Grade 8/9 student work on a semester basis, which means they only focus on 4 courses at a time (preferably 2 academic courses and 2 elective courses per semester). This seems to help with keeping students focussed and will mean that you won't have nearly as many teacher contacts per semester.
